Summary

Most of us face the same questions every day: What do I want? And how can I get it? How can I live more happily and work more efficiently?

This updated edition of the international bestseller distils into a single volume the fifty best decision-making models used on MBA courses, and elsewhere, that will help you tackle these important questions - from the well known (the Eisenhower matrix for time management) to the less familiar but equally useful (the Swiss Cheese model)。 It will even show you how to remember everything you will have learned by the end of it。

Stylish and compact, this little black book is a powerful asset。 Whether you need to plot a presentation, assess someone's business idea or get to know yourself better, this unique guide will help you simplify any problem and take steps towards the right decision。

Introduces models that help you with decision-making in both your personal and professional lives。 I found the models more theoretical than practical。

Juan Camilo Velasquez

A good summary of popular models that help decision making

Eni

A very illustrative book that shows scientific approaches to decision making。

The book can only be used as a reference。 It gives you the model, its brief description and that's it。 No further elaboration and examples。 If you found something interesting that is applicable to you, then you will need another reference to help you better understand the model and how you can use it。 The book can only be used as a reference。 It gives you the model, its brief description and that's it。 No further elaboration and examples。 If you found something interesting that is applicable to you, then you will need another reference to help you better understand the model and how you can use it。 。。。more

This can be looked at as a summary of the models where the author introduces a model with minimal explanation and application。 For those who've studied strategy and thinking frameworks, it'll be a refresher but if you haven't read much on the topic, it can add limited value and I'd recommend a different book。 It was good for me because it went over many of the models I have read in many other books in one place。 This can be looked at as a summary of the models where the author introduces a model with minimal explanation and application。 For those who've studied strategy and thinking frameworks, it'll be a refresher but if you haven't read much on the topic, it can add limited value and I'd recommend a different book。 It was good for me because it went over many of the models I have read in many other books in one place。 。。。more

Great tools for folks looking for strategies to make decisions or boost executive functioning (ex: Eisenhower model)。

This is an amazing tool for a person 。。。 I just love this book

Not a good book, even as a basic reference from which to get an intro to decisionmaking models。 The descriptions are short (because it's tiny) but many of them are also really poorly explained and some are completely nonsensical。 Look elsewhere。 Not a good book, even as a basic reference from which to get an intro to decisionmaking models。 The descriptions are short (because it's tiny) but many of them are also really poorly explained and some are completely nonsensical。 Look elsewhere。 。。。more

The end page where they plotted the models (some loosely "models") in a quadrant was a nice touch。 There were some interesting details and questions posed - and introduced me to some of the older business/team models。 However, certain sections seemed a bit shallower than others (not a critique of the fact that everything is in snapshot/overview, but the model itself is sometimes dated or debated at this point)。 Some of the "humor" in the data points of a visual/matrix also carries gendered assum The end page where they plotted the models (some loosely "models") in a quadrant was a nice touch。 There were some interesting details and questions posed - and introduced me to some of the older business/team models。 However, certain sections seemed a bit shallower than others (not a critique of the fact that everything is in snapshot/overview, but the model itself is sometimes dated or debated at this point)。 Some of the "humor" in the data points of a visual/matrix also carries gendered assumptions that further indicate aging of the material。 。。。more

One of those books that serves as a quick guide to those who know the underlying concept well。 Or alternatively, serves as a reference to other books!

Tomulescu Ilie

Short and effective stories, easy to understand and apply。

Gemma Cortadellas

Liked this book; however I found the explanations of each model overly simplistic。 If I want to really understand a specific model, I'll have to look it up to somewhere else。 I feel like more practical examples could have been given of each as well。 Anyways, quick and interesting read 。 Liked this book; however I found the explanations of each model overly simplistic。 If I want to really understand a specific model, I'll have to look it up to somewhere else。 I feel like more practical examples could have been given of each as well。 Anyways, quick and interesting read 。 。。。more

a great collection of models。 different ways to learn & improve/manage yourself and others。 i read it once all the way through to first be introduced to and learn the different models。 now ill keep it as a reference guide, like a cookbook of sorts, and dip in to various models as needed。

A simple organised book that will help you use models as references to certain situations。 I enjoyed reading it and would keep those strategies available at hand at all times。
